Sorry for the lag in updating the news here. Danny regrettably had lost the password to update the site, and only just now found it taped under the Telex machine. The big news this week is in our first annual Harding Prize for Best Apology. Marty will be making the announcement at his alma mater American University on Thursday night. We should have the official press release up by next week.

The Institute is now accepting applications for "virtual" interns. A tremendous opportunity for civic-minded students around the world to participate in the Harding Institute's mission! Projects will involve online outreach activities including publicizing Harding publications and events on social networking sites and elsewhere on the internet. If interested, please email info@hardinginstitute.org or sign up on the Harding Institute Facebook fan page.

Institute retreat to western Maryland goes well, except that sleeping accommodations should probably not be in co-ed tents next year. Adjunct Fellow Stanley issues formal apology to summer interns Sheryl and Jane.

Won against Heritage C team, 6-4! We had a great ringer this game from the Solicitor General's office. Marty told us not to post her name, though.

May 21, 2009

Opening games in Think Tank Softball League have not gone well. Lost to Heritage B Team in grueling rematch of last year's game. Marty getting frustrated; suggests poaching Dominican intern from Cato Inst.

We welcome Danny Sadler to the ranks of the Harding Institute. Danny comes very highly recommended from both academia and the private sector. His personal background, having lived in the Middle East, will be a huge asset to the Institute.

April 29, 2008

We bid a fond farewell to Associate Fellow Eli Perle. Eli has served the Institute for close to two years and we all wish him the best on his future endeavors. We hope that the transition to our new Associate Fellow Jimmy Havermayer will go smoothly. Jimmy worked with Martin on the erstwhile Giuliani campaign, and we all wish him a warm welcome to the D.C. area, and to the Institute family. There's a lot of new faces, but hopefully with Martin back in town, things will go well.

The Institute welcomes our newest staffer, Poppy Cartwright, as our latest Research Assistant. Welcome aboard, Poppy!

February 17, 2008

Senior Fellow Martin Eisenstadt, fresh off his work on the Giuliani campaign, begins a fact-finding tour of the Middle East this month. His travels should take him to Israel, Oman, Yemen and Pakistan. The whole staff wishes him safe travels on this important mission.

Plans are still underway for the move to the new Georgetown office. Thanks to the generous support of the Harding Family Trust, this office space will be a big step forward for the Institute.

Thanks to everyone who attended the annual holiday party. (And no, Marwan, we won't publish the pictures!) Eli will be collecting for our annual toy drive for troops throughout the week.

December 3, 2007

We had a bit of a scare with security. Understandable given the work that we do, but regrettably it means that we've had to remove our direct contact information from the site. The staff is a little shaken, but we're fine. Many thanks to the team from ATF.

November 30, 2007

Thanks to everyone who attended the reception at Annapolis. If the conference as a whole is viewed as a stepping stone to peace, we'd like to think we did our small part.
